In the Caribbean this sector of development (particularly the middle and low income housing sector) is surely the one requiring active attention. All too often we hear of the urgent need to create residential accommodation for our rapidly expanding population. That the profession, the construction industry and society as a whole is not in control of the situation is evidenced by the ever increasing degradation of our residential districts and the ever-spreading squatter settlements on our hillsides.
